Holly & Poinsettias in Neutral

On Wednesday I shared a similar card with traditional colours.  I did a couple of things differently this time to give this card a more contemporary look.

Soft Neutral colours also work well for a holly & poinsettia Christmas card
The base card is Thick Very Vanilla and I embossed a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock with the Holly embossing folder.  This time, I used the reverse side of the embossed piece (so that the holly pattern is debossed) and swiped a Crumb Cake ink pad over the piece.

I used the Eastern Medallions and Blossom Builder Punch again to make the "poinsettias" but this time using Very Vanilla and Crumb Cake cardstock.  The centres are very pale Daffodil Glitter Enamel Dots.

I used Early Espresso ink (stamped off) for the label and crumb cake ink for the holly leaves.  The holly berries are Early Espresso ink on Early Espresso cardstock.

Cookie Cutter Santa Blend

This is a very simple Christmas card using the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set and the new Stampin' Blend alcohol markers that will be available from Wednesday 1 November.

The base card is Basic Gray.  The Whisper White layer was embossed with the Holly embossing folder and swiped with a Smoky Slate ink pad.

Santa was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured with the alcohol markers before cutting out with the coordinating Cookie Cutter Builder punch.

To finish the card there's a strip of Real Red cardstock with a line of Black Mini Sequin Trim and a sprinkle of Rhinestones.

Thank you for visiting.

Holly Hello Color - Christmas Bush

Perhaps this card could be seen as Europe meets Australia (a bit like me!) with Europe represented by the Holly Embossing Folder and Australia by the colourful Christmas Bush.

I'd like to thank my friend, Judy, for noticing and pointing out that the little floral image in the Hello Color stamp set looks a bit like Christmas Bush!

This card combines Holly and Christmas Bush

I stamped in Basic Black ink and coloured with Stampin' Write markers.  I added the label image from the Label Me Pretty stamp set and then carefully fussy cut it before sponging Old Olive ink onto the edges.

From Real Red cardstock I made a matching mat with the Pretty Label punch and added some Clear Faceted gems for Christmas bling.

I embossed a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the Holly Embossing Folder and gently ran my Old Olive ink pad over it to highlight the embossing.  I adhered this decorative layer to a piece of Old Olive cardstock

Lacking Real Red ribbon in my stash, I dyed a piece of Whisper classic Weave ribbon with Real Red ink and I added a piece of the Whisper White Sheer Ribbon.

Once all the layers had been added to the Real Red base card, I added some Glitter Enamel Dots - because you can never have too much bling on a Christmas card!

Thank you for visiting.

Tarnished Holly

I decided to take a Christmas approach while teaching the Tarnished Foil technique the other day and used the Holly embossing folder.

An elegant Christmas card made using the Tarnished Foil Technique

To finish the card, I added a Basic Black label cut with the Pretty Label punch and foliage cut with the Pretty Pines dies from gold, silver and copper Foil Sheet.

I used a Basic Black Stampin' Write marker to ink just the greeting on the die from the Father Christmas stamp set, stamped it onto Very Vanilla cardstock and cut it out with the 1 1/4" circle punch.  I then edged this with black ink before layering it onto a piece of Copper Foil Sheet cut with the 1 3/8" circle die.

The basic card is made from an A5 piece of Thick Very Vanilla cardstock and there's a layer of Basic Black behind the tarnished foil piece.

Thank you for visiting.
