Gilded Very Versailles

#thecraftythinker #cardmaking #stampinup #veryversailles #gildedleafing #masculinecard , Very Versailles, Gilded Leafing, Masculine Card, Stampin' Up Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
A versatile card featuring the Very Versailles stamp set and some Gilded Leafing Embellishment

The base card is Early Espresso with a layer of Brushed Metallic cardstock (temporarily retired - Gold Foil cardstock will do the trick in the meantime).

I stamped two of the images from the Very Versailles stamp set with glue onto Early Espresso cardstock and applied Gilded Leafing Embellishment before cutting out with one of the Stitched Rectangles dies.

To make the tassle, I cut a length of the Vanilla ribbon in the Forever Greenery Trim Combo and unravelled it (I had taped one end with sticky tape to keep it intact).  Having added some lengths of the gold thread, I pushed it through a hole I made in the card.  Then I added some Gilded Gems.

I stamped some more of the images and the greeting onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock using Cinnamon Cider and Early Espresso inks before adhering the Early Espresso piece.

Thank you for visiting.

Gilded Mask - Rooted In Nature: A masculine card using Embossing Paste & Gilded Leafing

#thecraftythinker #stampinup #masculinecard #gildedleafing #embossingpaste #masks #rootedinnature #cardmaking , masculine card, Embossing Paste, Masks, Gilded Leafing, Stampin' Up Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
Gilded Leafing used in conjunction with Embossing Paste and Decorative Mask
to make a masuline card

These cards continue my experimentation with Gilded Leafing Embellishment and masks.  This time I applied Embossing Paste, in the normal way, onto Basic Black cardstock and allowed it to dry.

Once the paste was dry, I replaced the (cleaned) mask and applied Multipurpose Liquid Glue (in this way), removing and washing the mask immediately.  When the glue had reached the tacky stage (it doesn't take long), I applied the Gilded Leafing Embellishment flakes in the same way as before.

Onto scraps of cardstock (Cajun Craze, Soft Suede, Terracotta Tile, Cinnamon Cider) I stamped the Rooted In Nature leaves with Multipurpose Adhesive Glue (you could also use Heat & Stick Powder with Versamark), applied the Gilded Leafing Embellishment and cut them out with the coordinating dies.

The greeting is from the Enjoy The Moment stamp set, stamped in Cajun Craze onto Gray Granite cardstock.

For this card I applied the Gilded Leafing directly to (retired) Silver Embossing Paste

You know I wasn't going to let it rest there!  This time I used Gray Granite cardstock and I applied (the now retired) Silver Embossing Paste through the mask.  I left it to dry for a while, but not completely.  It was tacky but had a bit of firmness.
I then, very gently, applied the Gilded Leafing flakes directly to the embossing paste.  I really like the patchy silver and gold result and am sorry that the Silver Embossing Paste is retired.  However, although I haven't tried it yet, the same technique used with white embossing paste would probably also give an interesting finish.

I reduced the size of the black ornate frame using this method.

Gilded Leafing with Embossing Folders

#thecraftythinker #stampinup #cardmaking #gildedleafingwithembossingfolders #greeneryembossingfolder , Gilded Leafing Embellishment, Use gilding flakes with embossing folders, Parisian Flourish, Greenery embossing folder, Stampin' Up Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
Greenery Embossing Folder highlighted with Gilded Leafing Embellishment flakes

As you'll have seen from my previous posts (see here, here and here) - the Gilded Leafing Embellishment is so much fun to use that I've been spending time exploring possibilities - the truth is, I just can't stop!

So, today it's all about combining those gorgeous gold flakes with some embossing folders.

The card above features one of the Greenery embossing folders.  I simply cut the Seaside Spray cardstock to size and then embossed the top and the bottom.

Then I added some Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the raised areas, left it to reach the tacky stage and then added the Gilded Leafing.  It's the first time (in about 20 years!) that I've used the flat applicator end of the glue!  It's easy to do and, even though it doesn't produce perfection, I rather like the rustic result.

I stamped the butterfly with glue and adhered more of the gold flakes before cutting it out with the coordinating punch.  I applied liquid glue to the body of the butterfly and mini dimensionals under the wings to adhere it to the card front.

I used Misty Moonlight ink, stamped off, for the greeting and used the Stitches So Sweetly Dies to cut the labels using Very Vanilla and vellum cardstock.

I used the same processes for the second card but with the Parisian Flourish embossing folder.

Gilded Leafing: Use with masks and a variety of adhesives

#thecraftythinker #stampinup #gildedleafing #gildedleafingadvancedtutorial #cardmaking , Gilded Leafing, Masks & Gilded Leafing, Adhesives and techniques Gilded Leafing, Stampin' Up Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
A trio of cards made with Gilded Leafing Embellishments and a variety of adhesives
and application techniques

There are sooo many ways to use Gilded Leafing Embellishment - all easy and comparatively quick and all fairly messy (although the clean up is easy).

Preparation is key - see here for some tips.

This time I've used Basic Decorative Masks to create gorgeous backgrounds with the Gilded Leafing.  To be honest though, they looked so pretty when I'd finished that I was reluctant to do much that would  cover them up!

Preparing to sponge Multipurpose Liquid Glue through the Decorative Mask

I prefer to use Multipurpose Liquid Glue but any tacky adhesive works well, for example, Heat & Stick powder (use it combined with Versamark in much the same way as heat embossing).

Ready to remove the mask after applying the Multipurpose Liquid Glue

I applied the glue with a piece of sponge (I always cut them into smaller wedges!), using a tapping motion just as I would with ink.

Immediately rinse off the mask (or place it in a shallow container of water until you're ready to wash it) and it will easily come clean.  I keep the sponge in a small, sealed container and wash it periodically.  Occasionally, I use my fingers to pull off any matted glue.  I find the piece of sponge lasts a very long time.

Wait for the glue to look clear before applying the Gilded Leafing gold flakes
The left side is ready but the glue on the right side still looks white and needs more drying time

Put the project aside for little while until the glue no longer looks fresh and white and has become tacky.  Then apply the Gilded Leafing as described here, brushing off the excess and burnishing.

Gilded Leafing Embellishment flakes are adhered to this card using Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Adhesive Sheet and Tear & Tape double sided tape.

Tear & Tape is a great way to accent a project with Gilded Leafing - it provides a nice straight line - a bit like a nice shiny gold ribbon!

Another fabulous adhesive to use with Gilded Leafing is Adhesive Sheet.  For the card above, I used it in combination with the Poppy Moments dies to create the stunning gold and black poppy using this method.

Both of these projects have a black base card and a layer of Brushed Metallic Cardstock.

Painted Labels die and Forever Fern Bundle

The third card is based on Gray Granite cardstock.

I embellished it with Garage Gears Dies and Gray Granite card coated with Adhesive Sheet.  I also scattered some of the little pieces that were removed from the gears.

Then I used Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and a brush to coat a piece of Braided Linen Trim with glue and stick it to the card front and also brushed the glue over the lower portion of the card front.

Just apply some tacky adhesive and imagination when using Gilded Leafing Embellishment flakes

Then I applied the Gilded Leafing, making sure I pushed the flakes well into and around the ribbon

Gilded Leafing Embellishment has been applied in several ways on this card featuring
the Garage Gears dies & Basic Pattern Decorative Masks

I cut some of the gears from scraps of black cardstock and applied the larger centres as well as some of the Matt Black Dots.

I stamped the greeting (from the Vine Design stamp set) with glue (using this method) and applied Gilded Leafing then cut it out with one of the Stitched Nested Labels Dies.
