Birthday Delivery for 30 Years

Perhaps this card could be seen as celebrating the 30th year of Stampin' Up! ... but actually I made it for the son of a friend.  I think he'll appreciate the retro feel and touch of humour with the poor tortoise lagging behind.

A fun retro card featuring the retiring Birthday Delivery Suite

The card is also a retirement celebration for several of my favourite products!

On (or before, depending on stocks) 31 May we'll be saying goodbye to:

Large Numbers Framelits (and the matching Number of Years stamp set, which I didn't use for this card)
Birthday Delivery stamp set
Birthday Friends Framelits
Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper
Tangerine Tango - this colour will not appear in the revamped colour range

If you'd like to purchase any of the retiring items (subject to stock availability), pay a visit to the Last Chance Products in my online store.

Curious about what's in the new catalogue?  If you live in Australia and don't already have a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, contact me for your copy.

Thank you for visiting.

Birthday Delivery of Brusho

I LOVE creating backgrounds with Brusho Crystals!  I do get very messy hands (perhaps I get too carried away!) and I don't like to waste anything so I tend to make several at a time and keep them to one side until inspiration strikes!

Brusho background on Glossy White cardstock.  Image coloured with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers
I have created Brusho backgrounds on watercolour paper, Whisper White cardstock and Thick Whisper White cardstock and loved all of the results.  So I decided it was time to experiment with Glossy White cardstock ... and what joy it was!

This little piece is actually what I call a "2nd generation" piece - where I've already created one background and then pressed some scraps into the leftover pools of colour.  Typically I find I'm very happy with the 2nd generation, the 3rd generation is fine but often needs a bit of help but after that it's all a bit muddied up or washed out.

The original background has very intense, strong colouring and this is much more delicate.

I needed to heat emboss the image because I planned to colour with alcohol markers so I couldn't simply use the Basic Black Archival ink as I would normally on Glossy cardstock.  Having wiped the card with my Embossing Buddy, I tapped the stamp onto the Versamark pad first then onto my Basic Black ink pad, stamped the image and added clear embossing powder before heating with the Heat Tool.

The greeting is from the Blooms & Wishes stamp set.  It's photopolymer so it can be shaped to perfectly fit into the Banners For You banner which I then cut out with the coordinating Bunch of Banners framelit die.

Birthday Delivery Line Up

I really like this birthday card for my great-nephew but I kind of feel that I cheated!  It was so simple!

A simple array of celebrating creatures using the Birthday Delivery suite of products

To my Pacific Point base card I added layers of Daffodil Delight, Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper and Soft Sky.

Using the Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper sheet with all the animals, I cut out the fox and the banner with the coordinating dies in the Birthday Friends Framelits set.  I then fussy cut the other two animals (not too difficult since they have simplified shapes).

The greeting on the banner is stamped with Pacific Point using the coordinating stamp in the Birthday Delivery set (available as a bundle for a saving of 10%).

The rabbit is adhered to the card front with Mini Dimensionals while the other two characters are glued flat to the card.

The framelits also work with many of the images included in the Designer Series Paper
Inside the card, I used Pacific Point ink for the greeting and a Pacific Point Stampin' Write marker for string tied to the balloon.

The balloon, hat and gifts are all cut from Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper - there's a coordinating framelit for the balloon and the hat.

Thank you for visiting.

I'm so excited (and also a bit intimidated!) about this Blog Hop - when I discovered Jay was to be our Guest Stamper I actually squealed - because I just LOVE his work (always imaginative, beautifully executed and brimming with inspiration) and have been following Jay and Barry at Mitosu Crafts for a long time. So it was extremely difficult to choose which amazing piece to CASE!  Eventually I chose this one because it would lead me to do something new for me.

And this is what I did with it.
www.thecraftythinker.com.au, Flirty Flowers, Black & White card, #thecraftythinker, Stampin Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
The floral images are from the Flirty Flowers stamp set

I clear heat embossed the centre flower and masked it before stamping the other image three times with Whisper White Craft ink.  I then removed the mask and, using a paintbrush, coloured the centre flower with the same white craft ink, building up layers of pigment.

The greeting is white heat embossed.
If I were to do this again, I would stamp off the image directly behind the centre flower.

Tip:
As always when using white craft ink, care needs to be taken to avoid smudging as you work because it takes a long time to dry.

Thanks for following our blog hop. Remember that currently you are at my blog - Stephanie Fischer - so click on the next name in the list to ensure that you don't miss out of seeing any of the blogs and the amazing inspiration they contain.

Birthday Delivery for Beautiful You

This card is entered into the Crazy Crafters Project Highlights this week.  Click here to see all the great projects and vote for your favourites.

For this card, I used masking to combine images from four different stamps sets to create a little scene.  Can you recognise which ones?  You'll find the answer in the product images at the bottom of this post.
Lovely As A Tree, combining stamp sets, Beautiful You, Birthday Delivery, #thecraftythinker, Stampin Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
It's so much fun to combine stamp sets to create a little scene
The dog was the first image to be stamped, because it's in the foreground.  Having masked the dog, I stamped the lady and masked her too before stamping the trees.  All the images are stamped in Basic Black ink.

With the masks in place, I sponged the grass with Lemon Lime Twist, Garden Green and Tranquil Tide and the sky with Soft Sky inks, keeping the coverage light in the area where I planned to place a suggestion of the lady's legs.  I used a bristle brush to stipple the same greens into the trees.

At this point I removed the masks and watercoloured the lady with Cherry Cobbler and Powder Pink inks.  I mostly left the dog white but added a touch of Smoky Slate shading and Cherry Cobbler for the bow.

I partially inked the birds image with Basic Black ink and added them to the corner.

Around this time, I decided that the grass was too dark, so I used a damp piece of sea sponge and a tissue to lift off some of the ink.  This left some sponge marks that made me very unhappy but when I turned to my husband for comfort and support he simply said "Looks perfect to me - like the type of lawn one would expect to see in a normal park".  So I've left it perfect in its imperfection .... although.... the perfectionist in me is still a bit troubled!

The base card is Night of Navy to which I added a layer of Color Theory Designer Series Paper in the Crushed Curry crackle design.

Thank you for your visit.
