Hello again!

I made a series of Concertina Pop Up cards which I thought I'd share with you.  

I first became aware of this impressive-looking fun fold while perusing Sam Calcott's tutorial videos.  I really admire her work and never fail to find inspiration from her.  So, following her clear instructions, I made the following card using one of the paper packs that I got FREE in Sale-A-Bration.  

The resulting card might just be one of my all-time favourite makes.

However, it didn't fit two of my criteria: it didn't fit into one of my standard envelopes and it required 12" x 12" cardstock for the concertina section, which is why my concertina section is a different colour - I had to use something from my odds and ends collection!  I think it works though.

I then made a card using the dimensions at Maria's Crafting Corner that inspired Sam Calcott but used Sam's methodology for the extra pop up dimension.  Whilst smaller, it still didn't fit my criteria.

So I altered the dimensions to suit my needs and created the masculine card at the top of this post using more paper that I got FREE during Sale-A-Bration.  It fits a C6 envelope (although it is a bit bulky) and only requires A4 size cardstock.

Whiskey Business Decanter

A masculine card made with the Whiskey Business stamp set

A quick masculine card!  I had intended this to be for my son, who is employed as a Spirits Expert (some have all the luck!) and whose passion is Whisky - but, sadly, the set didn't arrive in time for his birthday.  

The card and layers are Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, Cinnamon Cider and Whisper White.  The white layer is cut with Stitched Rectangle dies that I shortened into a square (the stitched square dies weren't quite big enough!).

In order to have the decanter sitting on the shelf, I first stamped the decanter, masked it and then stamped the shelf.

I stamped the decanter with Smoky Slate and the shelf with Cajun Craze. The greeting is stamped with Early Espresso ink.  I then used Stampin' Blends alcohol markers (seemed appropriate!) to colour the images.  The colours I used are Cajun Craze, Cinnamon Cider, Soft Suede and Pumpkin Pie.

To achieve the lighter shades in the decanter and whisky, I scribbled some marker onto an acrylic stamping block then picked it up on the tip of my Color Lifter to apply it,

A masculine card created with the Game On stamp set and Tasteful Labels Dies

Here's another card that I made with the Game On stamp set.  I decided to use a backdrop of In Good Taste Designer Series Paper to provide a suggestion of a table top.

Having stamped the image with Basic Gray ink, I used a Real Red Stampin' Write Marker to add the red colour to the playing cards then cut out the image with one of the Tasteful Labels Dies.

To create the black label layer, I simply cut a label, cut it in half and adhered it underneath.

Game On - Chess Pieces - A Masculine Card

A masculine created with the Game On stamp set and In Good Taste paper

Always on the lookout for the makings of a masculine card, I couldn't resist the Game On stamp set or the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper.

The base card is Gray Granite to which I added a layer of Basic Gray before adhering the couple of pieces of In Good Taste DSP.

I stamped the image with Basic Gray ink onto Whisper White paper, masked the image and then stamped the checker board design  - also with Basic Gray ink but stamped off first.  I coloured the chess pieces with Gray Granite Stampin' Blends alcohol markers and stamped the greeting with Basic Gray ink.

I cut the stamped images and the Basic Gray layer beneath with Stitched Nested Labels dies and adhered them to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.

In my next post I'll share a card I made with one of the other images in the Game On stamp set - a very good hand of playing cards.

Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop: Favourite Designer Series Paper - In Good Taste

Welcome to the monthly Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop.  This month we are sharing projects made with our favourite Designer Series Paper and, oh my goodness, it was sooo hard to choose!  Stampin' Up! have really outdone themselves with loads of stunning papers in the new 2020 Annual Catalogue!

How to choose a favourite Designer Series Paper when this catalogue is chock full of gorgeous paper?!!!  In truth, I couldn't.  I love them all for different reasons:  some are masculine-leaning elegance (World of Good), some are soft and feminine elegance (Peony Garden), some are great all-purpose choices (Forever Greenery, Flowers For Every Season).  Then there's bright, bold and shimmery (Artistry Blooms) as well as playful and bright (Playing With Patterns, Playful Pets). 

However, today I've chosen to use the masculine-inclined In Good Taste Designer Series Paper because to me it represents great value and is so versatile.

I hate wasting the little leftover bits of paper, don't you?!  This sampler of some of the lovely paper in the pack is also a great way to use up odds and ends!

The greeting from the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set, stamped in Early Espresso ink and cut out with one of the Tasteful Labels Dies, is popped up on Stampin' Dimensionals.

Although I consider this paper pack to be "masculine-inclined", it does also lend itself to feminine or gender neutral projects like the one above.  

For this card, I stamped with Sahara Sand ink onto Whisper White cardstock and then coloured the image with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers.  I cut the image out with the coordinating Peony Die (there's a 10% saving when buying the Prized Peony bundle of dies and stamps) and then coloured around the flower with a Light Smoky Slate Stampin' Blend.

World Of Good Theatre Card : A Masculine Fun Fold card

The greeting in this Theatre Fold card is from the coordinating Beautiful World stamp set

This is such a gorgeous fun fold - easy but fairly impressive.  I followed a tutorial by Nicky Nack's Papercrafts which I found easy to follow and I can't get enough of her gorgeous Welsh accent!

For this masculine version (I'll share a more feminine version next time), I used the World of Good Specialty Designer Series Paper and coordinating Beautiful World Dies.

All these products are in the new 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue and will become available on 3rd June.

World Dies with Forever Gold Grid: Annual Catalogue Sneak Peek

A masculine card made with the new World Map dies and Forever Gold Laser Cut Specialty Paper

I'm always on the lookout for stamps and dies to use for masculine cards so I was very excited to see the World of Good suite in the new 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue!

For this card I only used the dies (I purchased them with the Beautiful World stamp set as a bundle to save 10%) and teamed it with some Forever Gold Laser Cut Specialty Paper.  TIP: using adhesive sheets on the back of the Brass Foil makes it easy to adhere the gorgeous scrolls.

To give the die cuts a bit of "lift",  I used the new Brass Foil Sheets and layered them, slightly offset, onto black die cuts.

I threaded the Just Jade (one of the new In-Colours) ribbon through the slots mostly to add a pop of colour but also to help disguise where I had cut the ends!

The Antiqued Corners & Slides (I've only used corners here) also form part of the World of Good suite in the new catalogue which will be current from 3rd June 2020 until 3 May 2021.
